Riverwest Neighborhood Sign

Riverwest Neighborhood Sign

2016

Community Branding | 2016

Overview

In 2016, I partnered with Riverworks to design a Sign for Milwaukee's Riverwest Neighborhood that reflected the community and attributes valued by residents, based on studies done through neighborhood focus groups and surveys.

The Community needed a highly visible landmark that celebrated the abundant green spaces, the Milwaukee river, and Riverwest's history represented through the iconic Polish Flat architecture, artistic culture, and strong neighborhood identity while serving as a welcoming entry point for residents and visitors.

My Role

As lead designer, I was responsible for:

  • Concept development

  • Illustration and graphic design

  • Stakeholder presentations

  • Design refinement and production preparation

  • Coordination with fabrication requirements

Results

The completed signs, 65 in total, has become a permanent neighborhood landmark, helping strengthen Riverwest's visual identity and sense of place. The project demonstrated how thoughtful environmental graphic design can support community branding while creating a memorable public-facing asset.
